About Me

To communicate through painting is a language in and unto itself.
I know that I have finished a painting when I feel it “speaks” to me.  When a piece “speaks “ to another,  I then feel I have been successful.

My paintings are often simple and stylized.  A balanced composition of line,  shape, and color is what I strive for.  I paint in both oil and acrylic, each medium bringing its own benefits and challenges to the canvas.

I am a self-taught artist with a BFA from Hartwick College,  a small Liberal Arts school. in Oneonta, NY.  I find great inspiration from my family,  music,  nature, and the works of others.  I have had mentors along the way, but for the most part, I have found my own path through persistent study,  observation, and work.

Born in Greenwich, CT,  I grew up in Middletown, New York. Summers were spent on Bailey Island in Casco Bay, Maine.  Some of my fondest childhood memories stem from those summers.  A strong desire to live and paint near the ocean drew me to settle in the MidCoast region of Maine.  I am very grateful to live in such a creative community.

Maine is my home.  It is here where I have found the space to think,  to create,  to dream, and to continue to grow.
